Tomb Effigy of Eleanor of Aquitaine
Eleanor of Aquitaine died in 1204 and her medieval effigy lies in Frontevraud Abbey in France, where Eleanor was buried with her second husband, Henry II of England and her son Richard I. It shows her reading a Bible and magnificently attired. Her remains are no longer beneath, her bones having been scattered during the French Revolution. However her tomb effigy has survived well and can still be seen today.
